9 ways YOU can control anti-aging

Psst...Want to know a secret about anti-aging?

Here’s the honest truth about anti-aging and skin- aging is real. It does happen. The good news is you can take control of it instead of it controlling you. There are things YOU can do to slow down aging of the skin.

Here are 9 good ways YOU can control aging skin:

#1 A good skincare regimen

A good skincare regimen is a must. As our skin ages it does not produce collagen, peptides, and other nutrients like it did in our teens and young 20’s. We have to manually put them into the skin ourselves. Knowing how, what and when to put them into our skin is what we must learn. Here is an easy to follow PDF of a checklist regimen to download. The checklist is made into easy steps to guide you on the best anti-aging skincare regimen.

#2 Exfoliation

Exfoliation is KEY to anti-aging. There are many different ways to exfoliate. Manual exfoliation with a facial brush kicks the dead skin cells out of the pores. Microdermabrasion uses crystals to slough the skin and suck up all the dead skin cells. Chemical peels are great for aging skin because there is no abrasive object possibly scratching the skin. Retinol (Vitamin A) is extremely effective for aging skin. Not only does it quicken the cell turnover but it stimulates collagen production to replace the dead skin with new healthy skin.

#3 Replenish the nutrients

Now that the skin is sloughed off after exfoliation you must replenish the skin with good nutrients. Plump the skin with Hyaluronic Acid. Push good serums with Neuropeptides and Peptides into the skin and follow up with Double Nourishing Sealer. It simultaneously pushes the serums and good nutrients into the skin while sealing the skin so environmental pollution can’t get to your skin. Which brings me to key #4.

#4 Protection

Another important key to anti-aging is you must, must, MUST protect your skin. UVA and UVB Sun rays and environmental pollution damage the skin, depleting the skin of its nutrients. It breaks down the skin cells. Think of literally a harmful laser destroying your skin with every beam. You must protect yourself with SPF. Hats, glasses, and a parasol are great ways to protect your skin as well, but you still need to wear Sun Protector SPF. The pollution and sun's rays could get around the hat, glasses, and parasol.

#5 Drink water

Water keeps the skin plump. Water binds with natural hyaluronic acid in our bodies which keeps the skin plump (and body healthy) giving a youthful look. Water also “washes away” harmful bacteria.

#6 Healthy diet

Sodas, candy, ice cream, and SUGAR are toxic to the skin (and body). Be careful of starches such as white potatoes, pasta, white wheat, and honey wheat. They contain enriched flour which is just a filler. It can clog the body (and pores) giving a bloated uncomfortable feeling. Whatever you put into your body shows in your skin. As the body disposes of toxins and unneeded ingredients through the digestive system, the body also “pushes it out” through the skin to get it out. Whole grain rice, whole wheat pasta, and whole wheat bread all have fiber in it which help the digestive system. These help the body be able to flow thus putting less stress on your body which puts less stress on your skin.

#7 Maintain good quality sleep

This is actually a big one. Sleep is SO important. It gives your body a chance to slow down enough to rejuvenate the skin. Sleep helps with soooo many things that take stress off of your body to help have a youthful look. Read my article about why sleep is sooooo important.

#8 Manage stress

This one is tricky to maintain. Stress takes a toll on the body and skin. Read my article Cutting Anchors. “Cutting anchors'' as I call it, is a must. Anything that holds you back from living stress free, cut it. There are many things you can do to destress: travel (even if it’s close by for a day trip), go for a walk, exercise, yoga, art, read, work on a hobby, dance, play music, and my ultimate favorite- take a bubble bath. Read my article on “How to correctly take a bubble bath”. Of course these are just a few of the many many ways to destress.

#9 Vitamins

Taking a multivitamin is easy. It has all the daily vitamins in one simple pill. It is recommended for women pregnant or not to take a prenatal every day due to the high amount of nutrients women need. Biotin + Collagen 10,000 mg daily is good to take for strong hair, skin, nails and eyelashes. Sometimes our body needs more supplements unique for our body's needs. For instance, I have to take extra iron 2-3 times a day and acid reflux medication. I take extra biotin daily to keep my hair, nails and skin strong and healthy. Ask your doctor to check your levels to see what nutrients and supplements you may need.

You will see results if you follow these steps. Some are easier than others but stay strong and dedicated. Take care of your body and it will take care of you. Aging is manageable. Don’t let time pass you by. Take control. Love your skin.
